The reopening of Napa Rose commemorates its 25-year legacy as one of California’s most enduring fine dining destinations
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Originally opened in 2001, Napa Rose celebrates its 25th anniversary with a newly reimagined dining experience at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland Resort. The milestone ushers in a new chapter for the restaurant, unveiling a refreshed design and an elevated menu that reflect both continuity and evolution for one of the region’s most respected fine dining destinations.
Since its debut, Napa Rose has served as a cornerstone of fine dining at the Disneyland Resort, earning a reputation as a destination for celebratory meals and memorable evenings. The reopening honors the restaurant’s legacy while looking thoughtfully ahead, reaffirming its commitment to California wine country–inspired cuisine, refined hospitality, and exceptional craftsmanship.
That balance of past and present is embodied by Chef Andrew Sutton, Culinary Director of Signature Dining at the Disneyland Resort, whose relationship with Napa Rose spans its entire history. Brought on at the restaurant’s inception to help define its identity, Chef Sutton played a central role in shaping Napa Rose as a dining destination rooted in California wines and cuisine. Twenty-five years later, his continued leadership provides a steady throughline as the restaurant moves forward.
“Reopening Napa Rose feels deeply personal,” said Chef Andrew Sutton. “We took the time to do this thoughtfully – honoring the story of the space while allowing the restaurant to evolve into who we are today. We’re working at the strongest level we ever have, with a menu and wine program shaped by craftsmanship, seasonality, and a broader international perspective. Our focus has always been on cooking with intention and delivering a dining experience worth of Napa Rose’s place in California’s culinary landscape.”
The reimagined menu is grounded in wine country cooking and guided by the rhythms of the seasons. Ingredients are sourced from leading producers in California and beyond, with a focus on seafood, meats, and produce at peak quality. Day-to-day execution is led by Chef Clint Chin, Executive Chef of Napa Rose, whose classical French training brings precision and discipline to the kitchen. The dining experience is overseen by Napa Rose General Manager Jess Soman, whose background in Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star and Michelin three-star dining informs the restaurant’s polished and attentive service.
The main dining room offers a four-course tasting menu presented as a cohesive experience, allowing guests to select from multiple options for each course. In the bar and lounge, a separate à la carte menu features refined small plates alongside indulgent offerings such as caviar service, seafood preparations, and charcuterie, all designed to pair seamlessly with the wine and cocktail programs. Select tableside preparations and the chef’s counter offer guests a closer look at the care and craft behind each dish.
Guests can look forward to sumptuous entrees on the opening menu such as Colorado rack of lamb, tangerine roasted rocky chicken or miso cabbage scallion crepes. Delightful desserts include the Fiscalini reserve white cheddar cannoli or the warm apple honey brioche. Over at the bar, patrons can partake in pepita crusted zucchini blossoms and Berkel-sliced charcuterie or elevate their dining experience with decadent bites served with Osetra golden caviar. The restaurant’s cocktail program features beverages made with house made juices and tinctures, including the “East of Furnace Creek” featuring a butterfly pea flower cordial and Meyer Lemon tincture. The bar also offers playful interpretations of classic beverages such as the Sequoia Skyline, a twist on a classic Manhattan, which adds spiciness and herbaceous notes with a pink peppercorn infused dry sherry and infused with Redwood smoke.
Napa Rose continues to be distinguished by one of the most extensive wine programs in the region, with a cellar housing more than 13,000 bottles across approximately 1,500 labels. Under the direction of Wine Director Patrick Kirchen, the collection emphasizes depth, provenance and thoughtful curation, spanning California and the world’s most important wine regions.
The restaurant’s redesigned interior draws inspiration from California’s Arts and Crafts tradition and honors the history, people and nature of Napa Valley. Each thoughtful detail pays homage to the colors and textures of the region, incorporating both natural and handcrafted materials and a strong connection to place with artwork and artifacts capturing the journey of Napa Valley.
“At Napa Rose, we invite guests to savor a dining experience that honors the past, draws deeply from nature, and takes inspiration from innovation,” said Katrina Mosher, creative director, Walt Disney Imagineering. “The restaurant’s design reflects Napa Valley as a place where history, nature and people beautifully converge and is inspired by the stories told both inside and outside of the bottle. The aesthetic influences harmonize into an updated and more modern Craftsman look, paying homage to the roots of Disney storytelling and Napa Valley.”
In the main dining area, a stunning chandelier is modeled after the Mission Vine, with hanging glass bauble-like grapes and a branch-and-vine design. Towering wooden columns with metal bands are classic Craftsman architectural details, while evoking the essence of wine barrels. Arched ceiling detailing frames a beautiful mural that highlights the vineyards of Napa Valley.
Warm woods, cork, stone, and leather define the space, while architectural references to wine barrels and vineyard structures create a welcoming and refined atmosphere. Distinct dining areas, including an open show kitchen, private dining space, outdoor terraces, and a bar and lounge, offer a variety of experiences within a cohesive design. A dramatic floor-to-ceiling wine wall and art installation showcasing Napa Valley history greet guests upon entry.
Napa Rose is open seven days a week from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Reservations are recommended and can be made via the Disneyland website or the Disneyland app.
