A New Chapter of Disney Magic Begins at Cotino, the First Storyliving by Disney Community

The first Storyliving by Disney community, Cotino, is coming to life in Rancho Mirage, California just minutes from Palm Springs. 

Last year, the community welcomed its first residents who are discovering the same sense of wonder and tranquility that made the Coachella Valley a cherished retreat for Walt Disney and his family. 

“When thinking about the story we wanted to tell at Cotino, we were inspired by the idea of a creative oasis: a vibrant community where people can gather, create and share what they love, just like Walt did,” said Walt Disney Imagineering Executive Creative Director Caroline Boone. “That vision shaped everything we’ve done at Cotino. By weaving that spirit of creativity into the design and experience, this is a place that feels both timeless and fresh — unmistakably Disney, yet unlike anything done before.”

As Cotino continues to grow, new milestones are shaping its vibrant future. Recently, the community celebrated the opening of the Artisan Club and announced the first retailers and restaurants coming to the town center, known as Cotino Bay Beach, Dining and Shops, and anticipated to open in fall 2026.  

Now open, the Artisan Club at Cotino is a hub of creativity, connection, and Disney storytelling. This optional membership for Cotino residents unlocks a trove of recreation and relaxation amenities located along the tranquil shores of Cotino Bay, featuring the clearest turquoise waters with Crystal Lagoons technology.

When designing the look and feel of the Artisan Club, Disney Imagineers expertly combined their signature placemaking touches with the mid-century modern architectural styles of the region. From archival artwork by Disney legends and custom pieces by local artists to enriching environments that bring new stories to life, every detail has been thoughtfully curated. 

At the Artisan Club, members have access to brand-new facilities including a signature restaurant and beach bar, state-of-the-art gym, outdoor sports courts, and two creative studios. These new facilities offer members a dynamic lifestyle through engaging events, wellness programs and exclusive experiences crafted with Disney’s signature storytelling and attention to detail.

Within the Artisan Club is Parr House. Inspired by the hero family home in Disney and Pixar’s Incredibles 2, the multi-purpose venue can be used by members to host events, celebrate milestones and even enjoy an occasional overnight stay (for an additional fee). The stunning space blends special details from the film with the iconic architecture of the Palm Springs area to make it feel like guests are stepping into the world of the Incredibles.

From the impressive rockwork fireplace to the classic yellow laminate of the kitchen cabinets, Imagineers used inspiration from the animated home while still designing a fully functional space for members to enjoy.

“Parr House is an exaggerated version of mid-century modern architecture,” said Caleb Wild, Walt Disney Imagineering Senior Architect. “Our goal was to heighten that aesthetic in a way that told an overtly Disney story while still fitting stylistically within the community.”

In collaboration with Optum, the Artisan Club offers health and wellness programming infused with Disney magic.  

Curated by Walt Disney Imagineers, these Disney-inspired fitness experiences — sprinkled thoughtfully among a broader mix of wellness classes — will allow members to channel their favorite Disney characters, adding a touch of enchantment to their wellness journey.

Beyond fitness and wellness, the Artisan Club offers a variety of experiences designed to enrich daily life, foster creativity and deepen connections among club members. These carefully curated programs, featuring options like educational programming, special events, culinary demonstrations and excursions, exemplify Disney’s enduring commitment to storytelling and exploration.

Anticipated to open fall 2026, the town center, known as Cotino Bay Beach, Dining and Shops, will welcome residents and visitors with premier dining, shopping and entertainment experiences.  

This must-visit destination will bring a curated mix of premier experiences to the region, while offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy Cotino Bay for a fee. The town center’s initial tenants will include restaurant Elevare, locally owned On the Mark Fine Foods & Provisions and Khaga Yoga, and the first U.S. location of Canadian-based specialty coffee shop Artigiano.
